The land which became the Borough of West Cape May was originally part of two farmsteads settled in the late 1600s. The two original settlers were Ezekiel Eldredge and Joseph Whilldin. Cape May County has the distinction of containing more Mayflower descendants than anywhere outside of Massachusetts.
